I can’t remember where I downloaded this album from but after researching it a few times over it seems that my opinion of it is one of the heterodox ones. I’m not a huge Jay Z fan but I think Pavement are a pretty awesome band, even if some of their songs do seem a little paler than they used to do. Whatever. Jay Z and Malkmus are both masters of their genre, whether or not you happen to be involved in the scenes that they represent or not.
The Slack Album, as far as I can tell, was mixed by some guy in London circa 2004. It’s been floating around the net with a vengeance since the big fella performed at Glastonbury earlier this year, and, even though a lot of hardcore Jay Z fans don’t seem to like it too much, I think the Slack Album should get a little credit for adding a little life to the black album which lacks the kick that the Pavement riffs have since enhanced it with…
